Cybersecurity Coalition to Present at RSA Conference

Ari Schwartz will speak on CCPA and domestic and foreign cyberpolicy

WASHINGTON — The Cybersecurity Coalition is the premier group of companies advocating on cybersecurity policy and will be leading conversations on privacy and cyberpolicy at this year’s RSA Conference. The conference, which is the nation’s leading information security event, takes place March 4–8 in San Francisco. Coalition coordinator Ari Schwartz will be featured in several panels on Monday and Tuesday. He is the managing director of cybersecurity services at Venable LLP.

The full-day workshop on Monday, March 4, IAPP: Understanding the CCPA, will delve into how the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 stands to radically change the way that organizations throughout the United States — and even the world — handle personal data. Schwartz will join other leading thinkers in California privacy to bring attendees two sessions during the workshop: Out: GDPR; In: CCPA; Compare and Contrast and Q&A: Stump the Panelists.

The next day, Tuesday, March 5, attendees will hear Schwartz weigh in during Cybersecurity Rubicon: Is US Domestic and Foreign Cyber-Policy on Track. In this session, panelists will discuss U.S. cyberpolicy-related challenges faced in the last two years and how the country has been responding to growing threats — which shapes its diplomatic, military and economic power. They will also discuss where policy is headed and its success rate. Sam Curry, chief security officer for Cybereason, will lead the panel of experts, who have worked within the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the White House on these issues.
