Washington, D.C. – May 17, 2017 – The Coalition for Cybersecurity Policy and Law issued the following statement to support the introduction of the bipartisan, bicameral PATCH Act announced today in response to the WannaCry cyberattacks over the weekend:
“We support the goals of the PATCH Act and we look forward to working with Chairman Johnson, Senators Schatz and Gardner, and Reps. Lieu and Farenthold as it moves forward in both chambers. The events of the past week clearly demonstrate the real-world consequences of exploited vulnerabilities. Governments have a critical role in getting vulnerability information to organizations capable of acting to protect security in a timely manner upon discovery.”
The mission of the Coalition for Cybersecurity Policy & Law is to bring together leading companies to help policymakers develop consensus-driven policy solutions that promote a vibrant and robust cybersecurity ecosystem; support the development and adoption of cybersecurity innovations; and encourage organizations of all sizes to take steps to improve their cybersecurity.
